Quick Start Guide

Welcome to Practito! This guide will get you up and running in minutes.

Step 1: Create Your Account

Choose Your Account Type

Practito offers different account types based on how you'll use the platform:

  • 🎓 Student - Individual learner practicing music
  • 👨‍🏫 Teacher - Music instructor managing students
  • 🏫 Organization - School or academy with multiple teachers and students

Sign Up Process

  1. Visit the registration page at /register
  2. Select your account type
  3. Fill in your information:
  4. Full Name
  5. Email Address
  6. Secure Password (minimum 8 characters)
  7. Primary Instrument (optional)
  8. Accept Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
  9. Click "Create Account"

Verify Your Email

  1. Check your inbox for verification email (check spam if not found)
  2. Click the verification link
  3. You'll be redirected to complete your profile

Pro Tip

Use a strong, unique password and enable two-factor authentication (2FA) for extra security!

Step 2: Complete Your Profile

After email verification, you'll be prompted to complete your profile. Add key information like:

  • Profile picture
  • Primary instrument (students)
  • Skill level and goals (students)
  • Teaching credentials (teachers)
  • Organization details (organizations)

Step 3: Take a Tour

After profile setup, take the guided tour to learn:

  • How to navigate the platform
  • Where to find key features
  • How to start your first practice session
  • How to access help and support

Skip Tour

You can skip the tour and access it later from Settings → Help → Take Tour

Step 4: Start Practicing (Students)

Browse the Music Library

  1. Click "Practice" in the main navigation
  2. Browse or search for music:
  3. By instrument
  4. By difficulty level
  5. By genre or composer
  6. Use search bar for specific pieces

Start Your First Practice Session

  1. Select a piece from the library
  2. Click "Practice Now"
  3. The practice player will load with:
  4. Interactive sheet music
  5. Playback controls
  6. Practice tools

Practice Player Controls

  • ▶️ Play/Pause - Control playback
  • 🎵 Tempo - Adjust speed (50%-200%)
  • 🔁 Loop - Repeat sections
  • 🎹 Instrument - Change playback sound

Practice Modes

Free Practice - Practice at your own pace without feedback

Guided Practice - Visual cursor follows playback

Pitch Detection (Premium) - Real-time feedback on your singing/playing

MIDI Mode (Premium) - Connect MIDI keyboard for instant feedback

Step 5: Set Practice Goals (Students)

Track your progress by setting goals:

  1. Go to Analytics → Goals
  2. Click "Create Goal"
  3. Choose goal type:
  4. Practice time (e.g., 30 minutes daily)
  5. Session frequency (e.g., 5 days per week)
  6. Piece mastery (e.g., master 3 pieces this month)
  7. Set duration (week, month, custom)
  8. Click "Create"

Your dashboard will show progress toward your goals!

Step 6: Manage Students (Teachers)

Add Students

Option 1: Send Invitation 1. Go to "Students" → "Invite Student" 2. Enter student's email address 3. Add personal message (optional) 4. Click "Send Invitation"

Option 2: Share Student Code 1. Go to "Students" → "Your Teacher Code" 2. Share code with students 3. Students enter code during registration

Option 3: Accept Student Requests - Students can find you by name/email - Approve requests from "Students" → "Pending Requests"

Create Your First Assignment

  1. Click "Assignments" → "Create Assignment"
  2. Select students (or class)
  3. Choose music piece from library
  4. Set details:
  5. Title and description
  6. Deadline
  7. Tempo target
  8. Accuracy requirement
  9. Add instructions (optional)
  10. Click "Assign"

Students will be notified immediately!

Step 7: Set Up Organization (Organization Admins)

Invite Teachers

  1. Go to "Organization" → "Members" → "Invite Teacher"
  2. Enter teacher's email
  3. Assign role (Teacher or Admin)
  4. Send invitation

Invite Students

Bulk Upload 1. Download CSV template 2. Fill in student information 3. Upload CSV file 4. System sends invitations automatically

Individual Invitations 1. Click "Invite Students" 2. Enter email addresses (one per line) 3. Assign to teacher/class (optional) 4. Send invitations

Create Classes

  1. Go to "Classes" → "Create Class"
  2. Fill in details:
  3. Class name
  4. Description
  5. Assigned teacher(s)
  6. Schedule
  7. Enroll students
  8. Click "Create"

Step 8: Explore Features

🎵 Practice Tools

  • Tempo Control - Slow down difficult passages
  • Section Looping - Repeat specific measures
  • Metronome - Practice with consistent tempo
  • Recording - Record and review your playing

📊 Analytics

  • Practice Statistics - Hours, sessions, streaks
  • Progress Charts - Track improvement over time
  • Piece Analytics - See which pieces you practice most
  • Comparative Analytics - Compare to class averages

🏆 Achievements

  • Complete milestones to earn badges
  • Build practice streaks
  • Compete on leaderboards (optional)
  • Share achievements with friends

💬 Communication

  • Direct Messages - Chat with teachers/students
  • Notifications - Stay updated on assignments
  • Activity Feed - See what others are practicing

Step 9: Choose Your Subscription (Optional)

Free Plan Includes:

  • 10 practice sessions per month
  • Basic music library
  • Profile creation
  • Basic analytics

Upgrade for Premium Features:

  • ✅ Unlimited practice sessions
  • ✅ Full music library access
  • ✅ Pitch detection & feedback
  • ✅ MIDI keyboard support

Visit Settings → Subscription to upgrade!
