Uploading Your Own Music

Upload and practice your own sheet music files.

Supported File Formats

MusicXML Files: - .xml, .musicxml, .mxl (compressed) - Industry standard format - Best compatibility - Preserves all musical notation

MIDI Files: - .mid, .midi - Audio playback data - No visual sheet music (auto-generated) - Good for playback practice

PDF Files: (Premium) - Image of sheet music - No interactive features - View and annotate only - No audio playback

How to Upload

Upload Process: 1. Go to "My Music" → "Upload" 2. Click "Choose File" or drag & drop 3. Select file from computer 4. Wait for upload (progress bar) 5. Add metadata: - Title - Composer (if applicable) - Tags - Notes/description 6. Click "Save"

Upload Limits: - Free Plan: 100 MB total storage - Premium Plan: 10 GB total storage - Max file size: 50 MB per file

Metadata & Organization

Required Information: - Title: Name of the piece - Difficulty: Select level

Optional Information: - Composer/Arranger - Genre - Instrument - Year composed - Source - Personal notes - Tags for organization

Privacy Settings

Who Can See Your Uploads: - Private: Only you - Teachers Only: You + your teachers - Public: Everyone (requires moderation approval)

Change Privacy Later: 1. Go to My Music 2. Select piece 3. Click "Edit" 4. Change privacy setting 5. Save

Organizing Uploads

Create Folders: - Organize by composer - Organize by difficulty - Organize by genre - Custom categories

Tagging: - Add multiple tags - Search by tag later - Filter your library - Share tagged collections

Editing Uploads

Edit Uploaded Music: 1. My Music → Select piece 2. Click "Edit" 3. Update metadata 4. Replace file (if needed) 5. Save changes

Delete Uploads: 1. Select piece 2. Click "Delete" 3. Confirm deletion 4. File permanently removed

Practice Uploaded Music

Start Practicing: 1. Go to My Music 2. Click on uploaded piece 3. Click "Practice Now" 4. Practice player opens

Share with Teachers: - Automatically visible if privacy = "Teachers" - Request feedback - Use in assignments

Upload Quality Tips

For Best Results: 1. Use MusicXML when possible 2. Ensure clean, clear scans (if from PDF) 3. Proper formatting 4. Correct metadata 5. High-quality MIDI files

Converting PDFs: - Use sheet music scanning software - Convert PDF → MusicXML - Review for accuracy - Manual corrections may be needed

Troubleshooting

Upload Failed: - Check file size (max 50MB) - Verify file format - Check internet connection - Try again

Playback Issues: - MusicXML files may need validation - MIDI files should follow standard - Report issues to support

Storage Management

Check Storage Usage: - Settings → Account → Storage - View total usage - See breakdown by file - Upgrade if needed

Free Up Space: - Delete old/unused files - Compress files - Upgrade to Premium for more storage
