Music Terms¶
Accuracy
Percentage of correct notes/pitches played during practice.
BPM (Beats Per Minute)
Measurement of tempo. Higher BPM = faster tempo.
Dynamics
Volume variations in music (piano, forte, crescendo, etc.)
Measure/Bar
Segment of time in music, defined by time signature.
MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface)
Digital standard for musical instrument communication.
MusicXML
Open XML-based file format for sheet music.
Pitch
Frequency of a note (how high or low it sounds).
Tempo
Speed at which a piece of music is played.
Time Signature
Notation indicating rhythmic structure (4/4, ¾, 6/8, etc.)
